 Fulldome Show
Coming in the summer of 2009--Maya Skies.
Maya Skies will be a captivating full-dome digital planetarium
show featuring the scientific achievements, and the cosmology,
of the Maya. Using cutting-edge laser scanning, photography
and computer technology the production will provide an immersive
experience of unprecedented realism, and a story about real
and mythical characters in the Maya world who practiced
astronomy with precision and purpose.
This show will debut at Chabot and at Lodestar Academy
in Albuquerque, New Mexico, then will travel to planetariums
across the United States and in Mexico.
Currently underway:
Chabot staff and a team of film and production experts
are on their way to the Yucatan, Mexico to gather the raw
data needed to create this unique show that will incorporate
animations and computer-generated reconstructions of Maya
temples.
