Chabot Space & Science Center has been a regional leader in advancing a scientifically literate society for more than 125 years. Chabot provides Northern Californian children with access to top-notch science and technology programs, and targets students traditionally underrepresented in these two fields.

Exhibition Halls, Theaters and Observatories

164,000 visitors annually are inspired at our 86,000 sq. ft. facility by hands-on science and technology in interactive exhibits, classes and shows in our digital, full-dome Planetarium and MegaDome Theater.

Our three telescopes provide the largest public observatory in the nation.

What's New at Chabot

  • 164,000 annual visitors, including 52,000 students
  • On-going screening and worldwide distribution of Tales of the Maya Skies, a full dome planetarium film produced by Chabot with major funding from NSF
  • FY10-11 operating budget is $8.9 million

  • 52,000 K-12 students learn science in standards-based classes and exhibits
  • 2,000 K-12 teachers receive professional development training and resources
  • 200 teens are trained year-round as science educators through demonstrations at Chabot and outreach activities in our Galaxy Explorers program
