Blast off into an out of this world experience exploring the outer realms of space! This program will take your group from Earth into the great unknown through workshops, activities, exhibits, telescopes and planetarium offerings.

Slumber with the Stars


 

The Odyssey Overnight includes:

 

  • Three education programs: an astronomy workshop; live tour of the constellations of the night sky presented by the East Bay Astronomical Society; and a day in the life of an astronomer including the history of Chabot Space & Science Center’s telescopes.

Hours:

4pm-10am (No early entry)

Check-in period:

4pm-4:30pm – The program starts at 4:30pm. (After 5pm late arrivals are permissible via the main entry).

Check-in location:

Side entry between the two buildings. Cars may unload here before parking.

Minimum group size:

10 (Groupswith few than175 participants they will be combined with other groups).

$80 per youth/ $50 per adult

Member Discount:

$10 off per member.Themember discount is limited to participants from the same household.

Meals:

We are pleased to offer catered dinner and breakfast throughLaBonne Cuisinefor an additional $20 per person. Participants may also bring their own meals. (No heating or refrigeration is available.)

Astronomy Workshop Descriptions:

Shooting Stars & Space Rocks (appropriate for all ages)
Ever make a wish on a shooting star? Join us to learn where meteors come from and when (and why) we have meteor showers. Examine comets inside and out as we mix up a comet in the classroom. Hear about famous and infamous comets and try your hand at simulating a comet orbit. Analyze earth and space rocks to tell meteorites from meteor "wrongs." Find out what happens when meteorites impact earth.
*Sky Explorer: Boy Scouts (ages 13-17) One day only - Saturday, April 28, 2018
This special workshop is geared for Boy Scout groups who wish to work on their Astronomy Merit Badge requires. The workshop will focus on the relative relationships between the earth, moon and sun. Chabot Space & Science Center is not authorized to sign-off on merit badge requirements.

ayment Process: Payment is due at the time of reservation. Tickets may also be purchased in person. There are no refunds for participants who are unable to attend. Extra participants are limited to (5) without notice. Payment for additional participants is due upon arrival.

Cancellations: Cancellations received 30 days in advance or greater will receive a 100% refund less a 5% processing fee if payment was made by credit card. Cancellations received 29-10 days’ notice will receive a 50% refund. Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card. Cancellations with less than 7 days’ notice prior to your event will result in a forfeiture of the full reservation amount.

Spend a night under the stars for an unforgettable experience on a destination through the realms of space. Your overnight experience will include exhibit exploration, planetarium shows, solar system night hike, hands-on activities, a scavenger hunt and telescope viewing (weather permitting). It’s an experience your family will remember for a lifetime.

Admission: $60 per son, $50 per member (members must login to receive the discount). The minimum age to participate is 5.

Time: Check-in 5pm, Check-out: 10am



Meals

We are pleased to offer catered dinner and breakfast through LaBonne Cuisine for an additional $20 per person. Individuals may bring their own meals.
