Champions of Science

Champions of Science has two primary goals: (1) to interest and retain students' knowledge and excitement in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) subjects and potential careers at a critical time in adolescent development; and (2) to create a pipeline to Chabot’s high school community service and internship program, the Galaxy Explorers.
Champions of Science develops students' knowledge and excitement
about science, and gives participants exposure to various careers in
science and technology. Champions learn how to think critically and use
the scientific
method.
During classes each week, students will play educational games and
learn about different scientific subjects. They are treated to free
movies and planetarium shows, as well as exhibit activities which will
supplement the classroom topic that week. This culminates in a final
project in which students will create their own experiment or
demonstration and display to present on the museum floor.
