Visitor Services Associate

Sales

Under supervision, greet and interact with visitors, process ticket and membership sales and other cash register transactions. As needed, cross train in gift shop cashiering, planetarium operations, and rental event staffing.

Birthday Activity Guide

Sales

This position is responsible for organizing & delivering birthday party activities and scout events. The Activity Guide/Host will work with children of all ages, their parents or caregivers, and scout leaders.

Marketing Intern

The Marketing & Events Intern is an unpaid role that works alongside the Marketing Manager and marketing department to help create and manage a robust marketing and events program for Chabot Space & Science. You will assist in the general support of the Marketing Manager. Use your creativity, research and technical skills, and business know-how to enhance the quality of our dynamic marketing program. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in project management, marketing, and events for a nonprofit organization.

Audio Visual Technical Coordinator

Programs

The Audio-Visual Coordinator provides knowledgeable, skilled technical and logistical support services to the various departments of the organization, conducts maintenance and preventative maintenance of the facilities A/V systems as well as portable A/V equipment, and  provides maintenance and support for Exhibits, classrooms, and other areas to meet the needs of the organization.  The AV Coordinator is responsible for recommending cost effective solutions to problems and technical specifications for hardware/software purchases.   The AV Coordinator reports to the Planetarium & Theater Manager.

Science Visualizer

Programs

Develops, designs and delivers live planetarium shows to create unique visitor experiences. Researches and implements new data and visualizations for the relation of scientific discoveries to the general public. Serves as an informational resource for support of staff. Works with the Theatre Manager, Technology Manager, and outside contractors to maintain, upgrade and expand planetarium systems.

Girls Go Techbridge Program Manager

Techbridge

Want to make a difference in a girl's future?  Techbridge is an innovative program to inspire girls in technology, science and engineering through hands-on projects, career exploration opportunities, and trainings and resources for teachers, role models and families.  The Program Manager is responsible for managing the development and implementation of the scale up of the Girls Go Techbridge project, a partnership between Techbridge and Girl Scout councils to encourage Girl Scouts across the country in science and engineering. The project is expected to reach 12,000 Girl Scouts at 12 regional councils over 3 years.  The Girls Go Techbridge Program Manager has the ability to lead and manage projects and timelines, adapt curriculum into programs-in-a-box, cultivate strong relationships with Girl Scout councils, and develop an effective train-the-trainer model for Girl Scout leaders, staff and partners.

 The ideal candidate has practical and proven leadership experience, strong training and facilitation skills, excellent relationship-building skills, project management experience, strong technical and science skills, sound judgment, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

Senior Program Manager

Techbridge

Want to make a difference in a girl's future?  Techbridge is an innovative program to inspire girls in technology, science and engineering through hands-on projects, career exploration opportunities, and trainings and resources for teachers, role models and families.  Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Sr. Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation and evaluation of the after-school and summer programs, leading the strategy and development of curriculum, supporting and supervising staff, and overseeing planning and delivery of trainings to teachers and role models. 

After-school programs are hosted at elementary, middle, and high schools in Oakland and other Bay Area school districts.  Girls work on a variety of hands-on projects such as engineering design challenges, computer programming using Scratch, and chemical engineering projects.  Career exploration is an integral component of the program, and includes visits with role models and field trips to worksites and universities. 

The ideal candidate has practical and proven leadership experience, excellent partnership and relationship management skills, strong technical and science skills, sound judgment, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  As part of Techbridge’s leadership team, the Sr. Program Manager is expected to play a key role in overseeing execution and guiding the strategic direction of the program.
