Audio Visual Technical Coordinator
The Audio-Visual Coordinator provides knowledgeable, skilled technical and logistical support services to the various departments of the organization, conducts maintenance and preventative maintenance of the facilities A/V systems as well as portable A/V equipment, and provides maintenance and support for Exhibits, classrooms, and other areas to meet the needs of the organization. The AV Coordinator is responsible for recommending cost effective solutions to problems and technical specifications for hardware/software purchases. The AV Coordinator reports to the Planetarium & Theater Manager.
Responsiblities
- Provide Audio Visual technical support services required for day to day operations of Center
- Provide A/V technical support services as required for Events/Facility Rentals/Activities
- Provide AV system specification, design and installation for exhibits
- Perform AV and computer/software troubleshooting and repairs for classrooms, exhibitions, planetarium, and theater ( large format 70mm)
- Provide technical support for classrooms, exhibitions, planetarium, and theater
- Conduct preventative and regular systems maintenance for classrooms, exhibits, planetarium, and theater
- Provide technical support to IT department for interconnected/networked A/V systems
- Maintain Data Center in a neat, clean and orderly manner at all times
- Provide regularly scheduled lighting and lamp replacements, focusing and gobo maintenance
- Provide Event/Facility Rental/Activities set-up (pipe and drape, tables, chairs, etc.)
- Be available to work split shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Provide vacation coverage as needed
- Be available to provide “on-call” technical and logistical support services as may be required
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- The Audio Visual Coordinator position requires sound technical and reasoning skills, the ability to operate and troubleshoot a wide range of A/V related systems, and provide technical support services required for smooth day to day operations.
- This position requires the ability to carry-out physically demanding, laborious work as required to fulfill duties and responsibilities of job, and other assignments.
- This position requires occasional weekend, holiday and nighttime work, including but not limited to Event A/V support services and special projects services.
- High school diploma or GED with 3 to 5 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Strong A/V and IT skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple tasks and requests simultaneously, and work well under pressure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to successfully work with staff, clients, 3rd party vendors
- Ability to establish and maintain a Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance Program and various forms of documentation as required
- Ability to maintain tools and data center
- Available to work nights, weekends, split shifts, and some holidays

Compensation
This is a part-time position. Hourly salary is commensurate with other non-profit organizations and will be commensurate with experience.
