Visitor Experience Project Manager

The Visitor Experience team within Chabot Space & Science Center is seeking an engaging, and collaborative project manager to lead and actively drive project and budget management in the development to completion of exhibitions, shows and special projects within the attainment of the department and organizations strategic goals of revenue generation and increased attendance for public audiences to the Center.

Responsibilities

  • Works directly with the Director of Visitor Experience to develop creative use of public/exhibit spaces based on Chabot mission, goals and themes. Emphasis is placed on creativity and engagement for multiple audiences (public families, adults, school field trips) and ability to be flexible with mobility where possible for multiple types of space usage.
  • Works directly with the Director of Visitor Experience, Visitor Experience team and across organizational departments to identify to appropriate vendors, partners, staff, resources, and timelines to successfully meet project expectations. Regularly monitors and reports on progress, status and delays within project budgets and schedules to ensure timely deadlines and budget considerations.
  • Works closely with Facilities Manager to identify, liaison and manage outside vendors/partners for specific projects in order to meet project expectations and goals.
  • Works with Director of Visitor Experience and Facilities Manager to establish and manage project budgets. Actively manages, reconciles and reports regularly on budgets to meet expectations.
  • Identifies challenges, and thinks creatively to develop and implement solutions working with Facilities Manager on exhibition layout, resources throughout design, fabrication and installation process.

STATUS & SCOPE

  • Researches and identifies real costs/expenses, timelines and schedules for project grants, obtains competitive quotes for project components. 
  • Maintains strategic vision and goals for each project, identifies and manages the components and steps needed for successful completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in business, accounting/finance, marketing, communications or related field
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple deadlines
  • Experience managing partnership relationships
  • Experience in project and account management including budgetary responsibilities and measuring results of project plans and preparing weekly, monthly and quarterly reports. 
  • Degree with a minimum of 5-7 years experience in a program development, project management, agency or advertising/public relations agency, sales promotions or philanthropy.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and proven ability to take initiative 
  • Highly developed negotiation skills
  • Experience cultivating and managing strong partner relationships at all levels within an organization
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner with careful attention to details.
  • Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise initiative, use discretion when handling confidential information and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Professional demeanor, diplomatic and solutions-based
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Strong team player and demonstrated success in coordinating diverse teams of people
  • Personal passion for engaging the next generation of science leaders in Chabot’s mission to inspire

Compensation

Salary for this position is commensurate with other non-profit organizations and will be commensurate with experience.
