Adventure Evenings & Odyssey Overnights

Want an experience that’s just for your group? Chabot offers private workshops or overnights for any youth group with 25 or more participants, adults and children included. Blast off into an out of this world experience exploring the outer realms of space! This program will take your group from Earth into the great unknown through workshops, telescope viewing and planetarium shows.

Here are some of our exciting new programmatic features:

  • Exclusive access to the science center after 5pm
  • Telescope optics led by the East Bay Astronomical Society
  • New planetarium shows that specially cover constellation identification and the correlation between the earth, moon and sun for older groups
  • Separate options for those groups who wish to take the evening only portion of the program

Availability: 4pm-10pm (No early entry)
Minimum group size: 10 (If your group has less than 200 participants they will be combined with other groups. Scout groups will only be combined with other scout groups.)
Maximum group size: 200
Open To: school aged children through adult
Rate: $45 per youth / $25 per adult
Members: $10 off per member*

Availability: 4pm-10pm (No early entry)

Educational Program:

Your reservation includes an astronomy workshop. Separate from the workshop are informal astronomy activity stations, planetarium shows and telescope viewing. Cub and Boy Scout groups automatically will be given a program that includes segments designed to meet the astronomy merit badge requirements.

Workshops

Shooting Stars & Space Rocks (appropriate for all ages)
This multimedia rich workshop will explain where meteors and comets come from, what they're made of, who the famous are and when we might see some of them. During the exciting conclusion of the workshop, students will become cosmic chefs as they cook up dry ice comets.

Sky Explorer: Boy Scouts only (ages 13-17) Available Starting January 2017*
This modified program will focus on the relative relationships between the earth, moon and sun.
