School Field Trips

We have many exciting field trip options here at Chabot Space & Science Center with interesting content for every grade level. All school visitors get the chance to explore our exciting exhibits, telescopes, and view a planetarium show. In addition, we offer hands-on, standards-based workshops and simulated space missions in our Challenger Learning Center (CLC).

We offer three field trips packages: Museum Visit, Workshop Package, Challenger Mission. All trips take place on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from September 20, 2017 to June 8, 2018, excluding holidays. A typical day is from 9:30-1:45 PM. Date and time exceptions are indicated below.

Reservation Process

1. Choose one of the three package options below.
2. Review the FAQ.
3. For workshops, review available dates. We will have additional dates available March - May. Contact our School Programs Coordinator if you need a date that is not listed.
4. Complete the on-line reservation form.

Museum Visit

Description
A Museum Visit includes admission to all of our self-guided exhibits and on-floor activities, including telescopes, one planetarium show, and Project Create (our new interactive maker space).

Cost
$300 (up to 30 students & 11 adults, including teacher)
Extra students cost $10 each. Extra chaperones cost $14 each.


Workshop Package (+Museum Visit)

Description
A Workshop Package includes all Museum Visit components, plus a 60-90 minute engaging science workshop of your choice.

Cost
$450 (up to 32 students & 11 adults, including teacher)
Extra students cost $15 each & extra chaperones cost $14 each. However, availability is limited and will be confirmed after the reservation is submitted.

Workshops are offered from 9:45-11:15 AM or 12:15-1:45 PM based on availability.

Challenger Mission (+Museum Visit)

Description
The Challenger Mission includes all Museum Visit components and a 2 1/2 hour Challenger Learning Center Mission (CLC).

Cost
$750 (up to 32 students & 11 adults, including teacher)
Extra students cost $25 each. Extra chaperones cost $14 each. However, availability is limited and will be confirmed after the reservation is submitted.

Dates and Details
Only available Thursday and Friday.

Missions take place during two time slots 8:45-1:45 PM (morning) or 9:30-2:45 PM (afternoon).
Challenger Missions are only available to Grades 5-12.
Mission Materials will be provided and need to be completed prior to your visit.
