Visitor Services Associate
Position Summary:
Under supervision, greet and interact with visitors,
process ticket and membership sales and other cash register
transactions. As needed, cross train in gift shop
cashiering, planetarium operations, and rental event
staffing.
Responsibilities:
- Cash handling responsibilities include totaling
register balance, count out and prepare end of day
report. Prepare routine daily reports such as sales,
accounts receivable/payable, orders, and credit card
receipts.
- Greet and welcome visitors, be able to describe each
theater and planetarium show, assist visitors with
inquiries about pricing, ticket sales, membership
benefits and current or future activities. Answer
visitor questions about location of restrooms,
telephones, cafe, exhibitions, etc.
- Assist in resolution of ticket and seating problems
or other visitor issues. Use sound judgment in offering
refunds/vouchers to dissatisfied customers, referring to
supervisor if necessary.
- Professional behavior when greeting official guests
of Chabot staff who arrive for meetings, tours, inform
staff member of their guests arrival and direct guest to
wait or how to find meeting place as needed.
- Serve as center of operations in the event of an
emergency during evenings, weekends, holidays and
whenever administrative offices are closed.
- Monitor public areas to ensure safe conditions and
cleanliness, and notify supervisor or operations staff
of any problems.
- Plan seating assignments for groups. Usher visitor
groups to their correct seating location. Assist in
clearing the theater and planetarium following each
performance. Ensure theatre and planetarium doors are
locked and secured at the end of each shift. • Cross
train in Gift Shop and Planetarium operation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ability to communicate verbally to visitors and
staff.
- Ability to operate a computerized cash register.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and
procedures
- Ability to handle customer concerns/questions in a
positive manner.
- Knowledge of basic cash management procedures.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Knowledge of ticketing systems a plus.
- Conversational Spanish ability a plus.
- Able to lift objects up to 25 lbs.
Education/Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED with 6 months to 1- year
experience directly related to the duties and
responsibilities specified.
