Night Hikes at Chabot!

Join us for hikes through our redwoods! Trail walks are led by an experienced hiker and Chabot educator and feature discussions about the natural environment, events and objects in the sky.

Tickets: $12 (does not include Admission to the Center)

(Walk-ups are welcome, however, space permitting)

Hike Definitions

  • Easy: 1-3 miles, moderate to slow paced, along fairly level terrai
  • Moderate: 4-5 miles with some hills, at a moderate pace
  • Strenuous: 6-7 miles, hilly, at a moderate to moderately brisk pace

For All Hikes We Recommend

  • Wear layers as the weather can change
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Bring a snack and water bottle
  • Flashlight

    Friday, May 2 (7:30pm - 9pm)
    Hike under the beautiful Crescent Moon through the redwoods from twilight to moonlight on an easy 1-2 mile hike. After the hike, stay and explore other amazing objects in the night sky through our telescopes (weather permitting) or tour the Telescope Makers Workshop. Hike will take place rain or shine.

    Friday, May 9 (6:15pm - 9:15pm)
    Hike under the beautiful night sky through the redwoods from twilight to moonlight on a moderate 4-5 mile hike. After the hike, stay and further explore the amazing objects in the night sky through our telescopes (weather permitting) or tour the Telescope Makers Workshop. Hike will take place rain or shine.
  • Moonlight Hike
    Friday, June 6 (7:30pm - 9pm)
    The brightness of the moon guides our exploration of the redwoods on a moderate 3-4 mile hike. After the hike, stay and explore other amazing objects in the night sky through our telescopes (weather permitting) or tour the Telescope Makers Workshop. Hike will take place rain or shine.
  • Full Moon Hike
    Friday, June 13 (6:30pm - 10pm)
    Watch the full moon rising as we hike through the redwood and let its light guides our return on a moderate 4-5 mile hike. After the hike, stay and explore other amazing objects in the night sky through our telescopes (weather permitting) or tour the Telescope Makers Workshop. Hike will take place rain or shine.
  • Full Moon Hike
    Friday, July 11 (7:45pm - 10pm)
