Tyke Explorers: Hairy Mammals

Expand your preschooler's (ages 3-5) universe by enrolling in our Tyke Explorers Program. Kids get to bring a special grown-up to share in the excitement of science and space. Classes are a combination of instructor-led lessons and self-guided, hands-on experimentation and exploration. With Chabot's park-like setting, hands-on exhibits, laboratories and experienced educators, we guarantee a memorable adventure for you and your child.
The Living Earth – Over the
next three months,
we will be uncovering the mysteries of the living Earth! Find out about
the
diverse animals on earth including those with backbones, exoskeletons,
shells,
and more! We’ll then learn about the requirements to be alive and how
worms
help many plants live by making vermicompost. We’ll finish the unit
with a day
planting fruits and vegetables in the Chabot garden!
Day 1: March 5 – Hairy
Mammals
Can you
think of any animals with whiskers, hair, or fur? Come learn about this
diverse
class of animals we call mammals!
Day 2: March 12 – Scaly Fish
Flying
through the water with the greatest of ease. Come join us as we get a
little
wet observing the life of our scaly, gilled friends.
Day 3: March 26 –
Cold-Blooded Reptiles
Did you
know that snakes shed their skin? Or that they bask in the sun to keep
warm?
This week we’ll learn more about snakes and other cold-blooded
reptiles.
