    Monday, August 21, 2017, is the date of the Great American Solar Eclipse!  For those along the eclipse path of totality, which stretches from Oregon across the country to South Carolina, the Moon will cover the Sun, and day will briefly turn into night!  The Bay Area will enjoy a partial eclipse, with more than 75% of the Sun covered by the Moon.  Join us at Chabot to witness this rare eclipse opportunity, which begins around 9:00 am and peaks at 11:20 am.  Expert astronomers and educators will be on hand explaining the phenomenon. See a live feed of the total eclipse, and learn all about solar eclipses with hands-on demonstrations and activities. Event is free to the public.

    Hang out on the hill and watch one of the best annual astronomical events unfold before your very eyes. The Perseid Meteor Shower will make its annual trip through our atmosphere and light up the night sky. Our astronomy experts will be on hand to answer your questions and help you catch a glimpse of the brightest meteors in the night’s sky.

    Each Sunday preceding the 1st quarter moon, the Eastbay Astronomical Society invites you to a special private telescope viewing. Unlike our regular viewing on Friday and Saturday evenings, EAS personalizes the experience by taking viewing requests, live interaction, and hosting tours and it's exclusively for our members!

    Step right up, folks, for a night at the boardwalk, Chabot style! It's Coney Island meets the International Space Station as stilt walkers and jugglers roam the grounds, and classic carnival games pop up among the exhibits. Snack on grown-up versions of carnival treats like cotton candy and corn dogs while you enjoy live music from local band The Phenomenauts. Grab a beer or cocktail on your way to the main event: The Art & Science of Pinball, a large-scale exhibition with over 30 machines open for free play!
    General Admission tickets are $20. A limited number of VIP tickets are also available for $50. The VIP experience includes two drink tickets and exclusive access to a VIP lounge with additional pinball machines.
