Internships

Chabot Space & Science Center offers unpaid internships each year. Interns work directly with Chabot staff toward a goal of creating a world-class education and entertainment experience. Duties are varied and individuals will be matched to assignments based on fields of interest and the needs of the Science Center.

Who can apply?

Internships are designed for undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of one year of study (or the equivalent), graduate students, recent graduates (no more than two years out of school), and career-changers currently enrolled in a degree program.

Time commitment

Chabot Space & Science Center internships are 3 - 6 months long (full or part time). However, the duration and hours required may vary depending on internship area. International students are invited to apply. College credit may be available through your college or university.

Chabot, a Smithsonian affiliate, is a public institution, focusing on earth and physical sciences with an emphasis on astronomy, the history of space travel, and climate science.

    The Executive Director (ED) is the leader and face of Chabot and functions as the Chief Executive Officer directing all activities required to fulfill its mission to inspire and educate students of all ages about our Planet Earth and the Universe. Together with staff, the Joint Powers Authority (JPA) and Foundation Board members, the ED is responsible for developing and executing the strategic vision for Chabot, and for successfully stewarding its facilities and finances to maintain a strong and healthy organization.
