Really Cool Experiences Happen After Dark
Chabot offers many wonderful experiences, many of them After Dark. Whether you are looking for a unique date night experience or a fun place to search for galaxies and nebula, Chabot has something for everyone. We are open late every Friday and Saturday evenings and feature telescope viewing from our three giant telescopes, weather permitting of course. In addition, we will have special events, lectures and parties for many occasions including group events and corporate team building.

Adult Missions in the Challenger Learning Center®
Flyers must be 21+
Tickets: $30 (does not include general admission)
Just like our public missions for families, but this one is strictly for adult flyers. Bring your friends and join an intrepid team to land on the red planet, construct a probe to send to one of the moons of Mars and save your crew from calamity. Grab your flight suit, strap on a helmet and experience the thrill and excitement of a NASA simulated space mission to Mars! Beer (provided by Federation Brewery), wine and light snacks will be provided.
(Minimum of 14 participants required per mission)

Ever wonder what it's like to be an astronaut on a space mission? How does it feel to be a Mission Specialist guiding flights around the Solar System? Find out in our Challenger Learning Center® as you experience the thrill and excitement of a NASA simulated space mission! Become an important member on a dynamic team accomplishing the goals of your mission. You are a vital member of the crew! This adventure is recommended for space travelers ages 10 years to adult (younger children may participate when teamed with an adult)

Enjoy a hike through the beautiful redwoods! After the hike, stay and explore other amazing objects in the night sky through our telescopes (weather permitting) or tour the Telescope Makers Workshop. Hike will take place rain or shine.

After a candlelit dinner, snuggle up with your sweetie under the stars under for this very special Supper Club! Lay out on our lawn and listen to an expert stargazer explain the mythology behind the constellations, stories of love from the night sky as seen throughout history and look for planets and other clues to help orient you to the cosmos.
*In the case of poor visibility, couples will be given tickets to that evening’s ElectroLaze show.

Come revel in the stories of the nights sky as we celebrate the Winter Solstice with the Octopus Literary Salon. Illuminating storytellers, poets and musicians will recount the myths and legends from around the world that mark the season, followed by a Planetarium show that will explain the astronomical science behind the winter cosmos. Enjoy live music, delight in our imaginative holiday installation of LED lights and space toys and stay warm with hot apple cider. Beer, wine, and tamales will be for sale.

Each Sunday preceding the 1st quarter moon, the Eastbay Astronomical Society invites you to a special private telescope viewing. Unlike our regular viewing on Friday and Saturday evenings, EAS personalizes the experience by taking viewing requests, live interaction, and hosting tours and it's exclusively for our members!

A young boy embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole on the Polar Express. During his adventure he learns about friendship, bravery, and the spirit of Christmas.

Hang out on the hill and watch as the Quadrantids Meteor Shower makes it annual trip through our atmosphere and light up the night sky. Our scientists will be ready to help you catch the brightest meteors in this prolific shower!

A Playdate for the Imagination
Chabot Space & Science Center and the Bay Area International Children's Film Festival have joined forces to present the 8th annual Playdate for the Imagination, where education and imagination collide. In its 8th year, BAICFF celebrates the moveable melody of the figure 8 with a Movement and Music theme. These two inseparable aspects of cinema and childhood will be explored and showcased with special performances, film screenings and events that ignite the imagination for a truly memorable kinetic experience. Participate in hands on workshops and have a fun family day at Chabot!
