    For Ages 3 - 5 years
    September: Falling Objects
    Gravity is pulling us (and everything else!) toward the center of our earth. This month we'll explore the invisible force of gravity to see how it affects falling objects and balance. Then we'll build parachutes to slow the pull of gravity so our astronauts don't crash to the ground. Finally we'll experiment with different ways to launch an object and escape the pull of gravity... for a few seconds, at least.

    Enjoy an easy 1-2 mile end-of-summer hike through the beautiful redwoods and watch the sun set over the bay! After the hike, stay and explore other amazing objects in the night sky through our telescopes (weather permitting) or tour the Telescope Makers Workshop. Hike will take place rain or shine.

    FEAST is truly a grass roots effort that began with a small group of secondary science teachers and has grown to over 200 members. Each monthly meeting during the school year focuses on topics selected by the FEAST teachers. Most of our sessions invite teachers to share lessons and demonstrations around a particular topics like as "Energy," "Toys in Science," or "Climate Science" as well as visiting speakers. There is no cost to join or participate as long as you are an educator and are willing to share one of your favorite lessons around a particular topic.

    Constructing a New Gaming Genre

    Twenty years ago, a video game that you could neither win nor lose was inconceivable unless you were Will Wright. With five years of college under his belt and no degree, then twenty-something year old Wright created a game based on designing and building cities. In achieving that goal, Will created a new genre in gaming and within it, one of the best-loved game franchises in history, SimCity. An entirely new kind of video game genre, focused on open-ended, non-violent gameplay was born! Hear Will discuss his journey and his upcoming projects.
