The heavy water fog filling
"Sea of Clouds" (right inset) readily
compares to the frozen morning mist filling some of Mars' canyons
and valleys (main background image).

How It
Works: A large
pool of slowly undulating fog is generated
by an ultrasonic fog machine. The
cool, dense water fog flows like dry ice
fog. The top surface of the fog is
alive with waves and complex convection
currents. Side lighting accentuates
the patterns. Viewers will be able
to run their hands through the fog and
alter the currents. When left
undisturbed, the fog will slowly churn,
constantly changing due to its own
internal dynamics.
