The streak near the center of this image is Asteroid 10683 Carter, a Main Belt asteroid discovered in 1980 by Eugene and Caroline Shoemaker.  

These pictures of Asteroid 10683 "Carter" were taken with Chabot's 36-inch telescope, Nellie, by Conrad Jung and Gerald McKeegan.

This asteroid is named for Carter Roberts,
