Internships

Chabot Space & Science Center offers unpaid internships each year. Interns work directly with Chabot staff toward a goal of creating a world-class education and entertainment experience. Duties are varied and individuals will be matched to assignments based on fields of interest and the needs of the Science Center.

Who can apply?

Internships are designed for undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of one year of study (or the equivalent), graduate students, recent graduates (no more than two years out of school), and career-changers currently enrolled in a degree program.

Time commitment

Chabot Space & Science Center internships are 3 - 6 months long (full or part time). However, the duration and hours required may vary depending on internship area. International students are invited to apply. College credit may be available through your college or university.

    Reporting to the CFO, the Accounting Manager will maintain all grant information as it relates to financial transaction entry, analysis and reporting along with being responsible for recording and reconciling all revenue between the various systems. Serving as the point person for all grants and other revenue, will be able to run budget to actual reports, monitor grant status, meet reporting deadline and track milestones.  Ability to research and discover variances is a must.  Experience in understanding the components of earned revenue.  Reporting out to Senior Management the over view, status and analysis.  This is a full time role, focusing on revenue transaction imports from the ticketing system into the GL system, grant analysis and reconciliation, analyzing necessary reports, creating weekly dashboards, updating Vista and website for events information and being the lead person on the cloud based software systems.

Strong ability to motivate and inspire sales teams in providing a "wow" experience for public visitors in support of Chabot's mission and achievement of its strategic goals.

     

    Primary responsibilities include analysis and reporting on earned revenue, visitor attendance while delivering an exceptional experience through all sales operations and channels. This role oversees and manages the day-to-day functions of the sales operations including ticket sales/box office, facility rentals, birthdays, scouts and group sales activities as related to the box office. Develops and manages team budget. Manages and takes direct responsibility for logistics and production of Chabot events; internal, public and private. Collaborates and communicates cross departmentally to achieve an excellent visitor experience. Provides training, mentoring and inspiration to sales teams to meet or exceed organizational goals. Provides onsite management and customer service to ensure a positive visitor experience. A typical day might consist of selling tickets, greeting visitors, running a birthday activity, ushering and running a planetarium show, running reports and presenting to management. In addition, planning for schedules in advance, developing a training program and attending and reporting out to staff at meetings and through daily manager’s reports. This role requires a visionary and someone who can craft a vision for the front line staff and provide excellence in customer service and deliver upon those goals. Collaborates with Senior Manager of Visitor Engagement, providing visitor feedback, surveys as well as input for engagement activities from operational perspective. The individual in this role will be required to work evenings and weekends.
