Game Designer & Creator of Sim City
Constructing a New Gaming Genre
Twenty years ago, a video game that you could neither win nor lose was inconceivable unless you were Will Wright. With five years of college under his belt and no degree, then twenty-something year old Wright created a game based on designing and building cities. In achieving that goal, Will created a new genre in gaming and within it, one of the best-loved game franchises in history, SimCity. An entirely new kind of video game genre, focused on open-ended, non-violent gameplay was born! Hear Will discuss his journey and his upcoming projects.

We're partnering with the Bay Area International Children's Film Festival again to present the 7th annual Playdate for the Imagination, where education and imagination collide. Though the festival isn't until January, we've put together a special sneak-peek for members, highlighting the best of the 2014 festival and film clips screening at the 2015 festival. This year's theme is Green Innovation, harnessing creativity to solve global warming. The films inspire curiosity and conversation and allow children to experience an array of cultural perspectives on climate change. Join us in the MegaDome Theater for this free, members-only screening. Refreshments will be available by donation.

Based on Pink Floyd's 1973 album of humanitarian, political and philosophical empathy, Dark Side of the Moon is one of the most startling and bizarre laser light shows of all time!
Considered by many critics to be the album that brought the commercial breakthrough to Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon offers a mixture of psychedelic, rock and jazz sounds. It's sonic backdrops and atmospheric soundscapes combined with a unique assortment of sound effects yield an emotional resonance. When accompanied by a diverse and unusual display of laser art, the overall feel is a dramatic and haunting atmosphere.
The "Fab Four's" best spanning 6 years becomes the background for dazzling laser-art. All ages and backgrounds will appreciate this fantasy tribute of music and light to The Beatles and how they helped define a generation.
