X-15, Aerospace Mutation
Fridays with Faride
Friday, June 28 (7pm - 8pm)
Included with General Admission
The X-15 was truly one of the most cutting edge ideas ever to come from drafting tables. Scientists say that there was a first sea creature that took an evolutionary leap out of Earth's ocean to become the ancestor of all land animals. The X-15 is the first primitive spacecraft to retain its hereditary vestiges from aviation; like legs on fish carrying its wings into space where they serve no purpose. This test vehicle left Earth's atmosphere to become the evolutionary link to all manned spacecraft.

Soon after the newly formed National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) introduction of the first seven American astronauts, these men became instant celebrities of their time. With each launch of a Mercury capsule, we left the starting blocks and entered into a fierce space race with the then Soviet Union. NASA's Project Mercury was the first step Americans took into the unknown realm of space. The gallant Mercury Seven Astronauts proved that man was capable of surviving space travel, and that we were well on our way and up to challenge of going farther from our home planet.

DOUBLE FEATURE!
Saturday, August 17 (6:30pm - 10:30pm)
Guests: $21 Adults / $17 Children
Members: $5 Adults / Free for Children
Includes General Admission
Two tales of high adventure in deep space:
First up, the 1956 classic Forbidden Planet. Commander J.J.Adams, portrayed by Leslie Nielsen, leads the crew of the Space Cruiser C-57D on a mission to a distant world where the mysterious Dr. Morbius, and Robby the Robot guard terrifying secrets of an ancient alien race! This is '50's sci-fi at its best!
Then it's onto the schlocky sci-fi fun of 1961's The Phantom Planet. Two astronauts are sent to investigate the sudden appearance of a rogue planet only to find a miniature civilization, hideous monsters, bad acting and a ridiculous plot! Low budget laughable space opera fun!
