Current Open Positions

 

Science Education Associate Level I

The primary responsibility of a Science Education Associate is the delivery of science education content including workshops, live science shows and Learning Everywhere / outreach activities in on and off-site locations.  It includes set up and clean up but does not include major content design or curriculum development.  It is a part-time, seasonal position that collaborates with, and may report to, various departments with initial reporting to the Interim Director of Chabot’s Oakland Space Academy.

 

On-Call Events & Programs Assistant

As a member of the Visitor Experience department, the On-Call Events & Programs Assistant helps to implement daytime and evening private and public events hosted at the Center. The position will work directly under the direction of the Sales Manager and closely with other event staff, front-of-house staff, educators, and astronomers. Customer service is essential in this role and the person in this position must be able to work with children, youth, adults and group leaders from diverse audiences. Events and programs that the position interfaces with include but is not limited to public festivals, overnight slumber parties, outdoor education, hikes, lectures, demonstrations, performances, weddings, corporate parties, award ceremonies, meetings, conferences, galas, and proms. The ideal candidate is an individual with a strong interest in science education with prior experience with event production. This person thrives as part of a team, is detail oriented, a problem-solver, hardworking, diplomatic, highly organized, comfortable producing written and verbal communications, and able to work independently to execute a task on time.

The On-Call Events & Programs Assistant will develop and implement a wide range of duties to ensure the successful delivery of an event. It is important that the On-Call Events & Programs Assistant be familiar with the museum, the buildings, its equipment, policies, programs, services and the day-to-day schedule of events. Nights and weekends are required.

 

Sales Manager

As the Sales Manager at Chabot Space & Science Center, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the growing facility rentals and earned revenue events, with a focus on sales strategies that build loyalty, repeat business, and attracting new audiences. This person manages and oversees the reservation process for private rentals, outdoor learning programs, teambuilding sessions, slumber parties, field trips, and more. The position requires a highly organized and efficient, pro-active problem solver and strategic creative thinker, someone who can pivot to meet the needs of the visitor and the institution, a person who can motivate their team, manage competing priorities with exceptional time management skills, deliver excellent customer service, and has experience working with audiences of all ages in fast-paced small-to-large scale events. This position requires a passion for people, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence in event planning and execution.

 

Volunteer Program Manager

As the Volunteer Program Manager at Chabot Space & Science Center, you will be at the forefront of building and nurturing a thriving community of volunteers passionate about science education and engagement. This pivotal role involves spearheading all aspects of the adult volunteer program, from recruitment to recognition, ensuring a seamless and rewarding experience for volunteers while advancing the mission of our institution. The Volunteer Program Manager will play a pivotal role in cultivating a vibrant team of volunteers who work on the floor, engaging audiences of all ages in hands-on demonstrations, talks, activities, docent tours and more. The position requires a visionary thinker, someone who can develop systems that will meet the needs of the institution and build and foster a cohesive and strong community of volunteers. This position has a Tuesday-Saturday schedule with additional flexibility needed.
